Genevieve Miller, Professor Judith MacMillan, and Dr. Donald Stafford had a mission in 1988. Their goal was to establish a chorale to “perform fine choral music in the most professional way possible.” Thus, Cherokee Community Chorale was born and has continued to delight audiences throughout its twenty years.
The Chorale enjoys an excellent reputation for outstanding performances and recordings. Every season, approximately eighty auditioned voices share their dedication and passion for song, featuring music by some of the world’s most distinguished composers and arrangers. Members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and other professional musicians from the community have honored the Chorale with superior orchestral accompaniment. In many seasons, conductors, soloists, pianists, organists, and school choirs have performed as our guests. In 2002, Chorale On the Road Ensemble now known as Cherokee Chorale Ensemble was formed to represent the Chorale at community events.
We welcome you to our twenty-first season. You are sure to find music that will awaken your soul and lift it high. As Beethoven once remarked, “Music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life; it is blessed in the creation.” We delight in sharing our passion and invite you to join us as we celebrate with song.
