Auditions for singers for the remainder of the 2009-2010 Season will take place on Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 @ 3pm
in the Chapel of the Canton First United Methodist Church.
Auditions
Don Stafford, the Chorale Artistic Director, and a piano accompanist conduct each audition. The goal of the audition is to hear your voice range and quality, and to assess your ability to read music. You may be asked to sing a familiar patriotic song, sight read simple rhythms, sing your voice part of a familiar or unfamiliar song, and other vocal exercises.
There is no written test and you are not asked to have a solo prepared for the audition. The audition usually takes about 15 minutes. Many fine choral singers are not soloist. Please try not to be nervous about the audition, just relax and sing naturally.
Rehearsals are held in the choir room of the First United Methodist Church on Monday evenings from 7PM to 8:50PM.
Christmas Concert Rehearsals begin September 13. 2009
Spring Concert Rehearsals begin January 4, 2010
Pops concert Rehearsals begin March 29, 2010
Members are not required to sing in every concert, but are expected to make every effort to be at most all rehearsals for the concert(s) you choose to sing.
Members are asked to pay an annual $15 membership fee, and an additional $15 concert fee for each concert you choose to sing to defray the costs associated with producing each concert.
Members are required to purchase selected concert attire.
Ladies: Black skirt and top - special-ordered through the Chorale for a one-time purchase (approx. $90)
Men: Standard black tuxedo, cummerbund, bow tie, and white shirt.
